Not getting notifications about friends activity from the activity app

A friend and I have both set up to share our activity through the Activity app. She gets push notifications when I complete a work out or close my rings, but I never get any notifications for her. I know she is active because I can login and see her activity, but I don’t get notifications. (She just completed a half marathon a couple days ago and it shows in the Activity app, but I never got a notification.)

I have checked every possible setting: through my phone settings, through the Activity app, and through the Apple Watch app. Everything is turned on for me to get notifications. What would cause me to still not get them?

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand you’re not receiving notifications about your friends Activity on your Apple Watch. Sharing Activity is a great way to stay motivated and we’ll be happy to help.

See if notifications are muted for this friend:

“Open the Activity app on your iPhone.
Tap the Sharing tab, then tap your friend.
Tap Mute Notifications. To get notifications again, tap Unmute Notifications.”
