Iphone buy back

Does apple buy back old iphones? I have an iphone 5s and 6s. If they have a buy back policy, do you take the phones to the nearest apple retail store? Since this is not technical consultation for my phones do I need to make an appointment or would I be considered more of a shopping customer. Several years ago, my wife traded in her old phone for a new one and received a gift card for an agreed amount. I will not be purchasing a new phone and wondered if they would buy back the phones mentioned above. Thanks for any information. .

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. We see you'd like to know if there is a way to sell your old iPhone devices back to Apple. We would be happy to provide you with some information!

Apple does offer a trade in program where they will take back an old device and, if it qualifies, issue you an Apple Store gift card for use toward the purchase of a new Apple product. To find out if your devices qualify, and how to get started, check out Apple Trade In - Apple.

Even if your devices do not qualify for an Apple Store gift card, Apple will take back an old device to recycle for you, as well.

If you decide to trade in or recycle your devices, make sure you follow the steps in What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support first.
