HDMI port quit working well after Catalina update.
My HDMI port quit working on my newly updated (Catalina) Mac mini. Is this a software update problem or a hardware problem?

Your signature indicates you have a 2018 or later Mac mini and your question involves an HDMI display. From the first release of the 2018 Mac mini there have been issues with HDMI which come and go with different updates but don’t consistently affect everyone. In other words, two people with a 2018 mini running the same OS version using the same display model and cable could actually have different experiences! I “solved” my problem by switching from HDMI to DisplayPort. If that’s an option for you, jump for it.
And by the way, it seems to be an industry wide problem not just an Apple problem so I suspect it is a specifications issue rather than just hardware or software.
