How to unlock my iphone from a previous carrier

Sprint makes it notoriously difficult.
If you are not a current sprint customer in good standing, the odds of getting your sprint phone unlocked are extremely slim. In addition, they will not unlock it unless the device to be unlocked is active on their network.
You contact the previous carrier and find out what their unlock policy is and if you qualify.

They want to keep as a customer and do not free my phone. I do not owe anything to them. This is abusive way to do business
Then complain to the FTC. Sprint is not under any legal obligation to unlock your phone.
This has nothing to do with Apple. It's a Sprint policy.
