Photoshop/Illustrator/Bootcamp on Macbook Air 2020

Am considering purchasing the Macbook Air 2020 (i5/8gb/512gb).

Will i have issues running Photoshop/Illustrator/Bootcamp?

Illustrator - No issues if the app is running by itself and without any other major app taking up resources with it.

Bootcamp - No issues because then you will install Windows and a lot will depend on which Windows apps you will run on that side of the drive.

Photoshop - If you are using light Photoshop work and that is working with medium sized RAW format files and perhaps 10 -12 layers of creativity then you will be fine. If you are planning on doing something extensive such as copy pasting custom layers which require frequent rendering then this app will bog the whole system down.


Note that your list consists of RAM and Processor hungry apps. I would recommend that you run those listed apps (except Bootcamp portion because Windows runs independently) pretty much alone without other major apps running concurrently.

For Adobe products I cannot recommend an 8GB computer. If you want to run Illustrator or Photoshop and another application at the same time 16GB will be absolutely required.


Note: you will drive yourself silly using Adobe without an external display.
