There is no option to even get there. It’s a blank screen with “your emergency contacts have been notified”. Siri doesn’t even work.

You need to enter your passcode once you have used Emergency mode.

What exactly do you see on the screen?

You have started to place an emergency call. Apparently that call is still in progress. If your iPhone's passcode is not accepted, tap the "SOS" in the upper left and end your call.
