iPhone 4 cannot sync to iTunes

Hello,
I have an iPhone 4 and recently upgraded to iOS 4.0.1. For some reason, whenever I try to sync to iTunes, a message appears saying, "The iPhone 'Connor Crosby's iPhone' cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found." So, it does not sync. I would like to note that when upgrading to 4.0.1 that I had to edit my host file by removing a line with an IP address and "gs.apple.com" since it would show a 1004 error. Please help! Thanks in advanced!

I just had the problem of "The required file cannot be found." And managed to find a fix.

It seems the problem is with the 'ipod photo cache'. i.e. the folder full of scaled down versions of your photos for the iphone/ipod.

To fix the problem, first close iTunes.

Then view your pictures folder in finder. Ctrl-click on the iphoto library, and select "View Package Contents". In there you'll find a folder called "ipod photo cache" Delete this folder and try the sync again.

Note: If you're using a folder other than the iphoto library you'll have to remove the cache folder from that.

Hope this helps
