Bluetooth mouse keeps losing connection.

My Bluetooth mouse keeps losing connection to my MacBook Pro. It is charged and I've disconnected and reconnected it under the Bluetooth icon. It will reconnect if I keep clicking it. Sometimes just a few times and others it won't for a long time. Also, sometimes if I lift it off the mousepad it will reconnect. Is the mouse going bad or is there a fix?
