My phone had a hardware problem ( according to Apple) so they replaced it with a new one of the same model. However the replacement phone has less memory/storage than my original phone. Is this normal? I would have thought they would give me the same model and storage capability as my original phone. Was I just tricked?

You should call them again about that. If your phone has to be replaced, you will get the same configuration, unless it is not available anymore. But in such a case your should also be notified about that fact.
Thank you. I plan to call 1st thing in the morning! When I asked them, they said I was getting the exact same phone. When I came home I tried to reload everything from iCloud and it said it didn’t have enough space to load it all.
