Home Hubs - Disconnected

Been troubleshooting this for a while with no luck so hopefully you all have some ideas.

I have two homes setup in the Home both with multiple AppleTV Home Hubs. The one home works perfectly fine, no issues at all (Netgear Orbi router, for what it’s worth).

The other home has almost constant issues always around the Home Hubs disconnecting (Linksys Velop system here). On the AppleTV it looks fine but shows “no home hubs responding” in alliOS app. What’s very interesting is when I click “Disable” on the AppleTV HomeKit section, I see it reflect almost immediately in the iOS app and when I click “Connected” it again almost immediately flips from “disabled” to “disconnected” I have logged out of iCloud on both devices, rebooted and logged back in. I have completely rebuilt the AppleTVs, I’ve even deleted the home and re-added everything. They all add fine but show “disconnected” almost immediately. Everything works fine while in the house but no remote control/connection and always that message at the top about the home hubs

Both homes are connected with the same AppleID and all devices are fully up to date (TVOS 13.4.6 and iOS 13.5.1). This home has been running fine for 2 years and has only recently started to be a problem (past 3 months or so) I can’t tell if that coincides with an AppleTV update or not but again the other home is running fine.

Going a little crazy here so any help is appreciate!

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other wifi networks in the neighbourhood or from many household electrical items.

You can download and install iStumbler to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items that cause interference.

Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate (which may help where interference is present. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software or from device to device, so just because it worked before or works with a different device doesn’t exclude interference as a problem.

I understand that some of the suggested software (whilst once free) has become pay-ware, I suggest you look around, you may find free alternatives.

There is likely to be more potential for interference at 2.4 GHz, because this is the frequency that common household devices such as cordless phones, baby monitors and the like commonly work with. However 5 GHz is far more prone to being blocked by relatively lightweight objects such as studded walls and doors, and it would certainly be worth trying the set up with 5GHz being enabled.

Thanks all for the suggestions, but I have already restored my AppleTV to factory settings (both of them actually) and I’ve tried both wired and wireless.

It almost seems like there is something blocking my iOS devices from communicating with the Home Hubs. The AppleTV sure thinks it’s connected and as I said when I click “disable” it is reflected almost immediately on my phone, it’s just as if the phone can’t communicate back to the Home Hub.
