New printer won't connect to my MacBook Air

My work just got a new printer and now I'm unable to print from my MacBook Air. The printer guy says it's basically the exact same printer, internally, and that I shouldn't have to install it as a "new" printer. None of the work computers had to re-install anything as the internal parts are all the same. Yet, mine won't. :( I tried resetting the printing network or whatever its called, I don't have any updates and none of my apps need to be updated. I've checked the printer and it's not low on anything. And I'm connected to the internet. The only thing it will do is make a warming up humming noise, but never spits anything out. It's a Sharp MX-2651

If you have not done so already, reset your router. Unplug it and let it rest a moment then plug it back in again and allow it to power up. While you wait, you might as well restart the printer also.

The Sharp MX-2651 is an Apple AirPrint-enabled printer. If it is not already installed as an AirPrint printer, remove the existing entry in Printers & Scanners, and add it again. You may want to reset the printing system which will remove all entries from Printers & Scanners. Then, refer to Add a printer on Mac. When adding the printer again, you must specifically choose AirPrint.

Do not install any drivers. No drivers are necessary. Apple recommends that you do not install any drivers or other software from the device manufacturer.
