copy/paste program

The built-n copy/paste program on my iMac, does not work satisfactorily and not at all at times! I want to get a hopefully free copy/paste program and would greatly appreciate any suggestions. I have macOS Catalina Version 10.15.5. My 21/5-inch iMac is Mid 2014.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15

So, please tell us what exact steps you take for copy/paste? And what exactly are you copying? Did you highlight that area/sentence first?

I use the keys: Command + C to copy and then Command + V to paste it elsewhere.

Yes, you babowa and Terence Devlin are both right, of course. Copy/paste in the iMac software does work as you indicated on documents, say a MS Word document or an Apple Mail inbox letter, etc. I am trying to copy and paste a map on MapQuest or Google Maps to a Word Document and either I am ignorant (probably) of how to do it or there isn't one available??!!! I do appreciate both of your responses greatly!

Thank you both, Terence Devlin again, and this time Old Toad! I understand what you are saying. But I don't know how to screenshot. I use Safari as my main browser, and I also have Google Chrome and Firefox. I've looked at the features on all three and do not see screenshot, nor on the list under Apple About this Mac.

I don't think you can copy a Google map. Instead make a screenshot of it and use that in the Word document.

There is no copy/paste program. It's a feature built-in throughout the OS. I think you need to explain your issue in more detail.

These services deliberately prevent copying of their material for copyright reasons. As OT says, screenshot the map you want and use that as a workaround.
