I've recently upgraded my iMac to Catalina 10.15.5
I sometimes use GIMP programme for image adjustment. Never had any problems before.
Now with Catalina I can't load an image from my desktop into GIMP - I get a 'No entry' symbol.
It was always possible with earlier Mac OS.
Any suggestions ?
Is it a prohibitory symbol (similar to this one – mirrored: ⌀)?
Where do you get this symbol – over the GIMP app itself? In this case you probably have to update GIMP – download and install it again: https://www.gimp.org
When you'll install Gimp again, it will prompt you for allowing Desktop/Document folder access. Click "Allow" and then probably it will work.

I get the symbol when I am in GIMP and go to File > Open
I try to click on the required file in Desktop but I'm told that it can't access Desktop.
To begin with I'll try your suggestion of Re-downloading Gimp
That worked !
And I've found another App which had the same problem and solution.
