Did you buy it from Apple's official website or from somewhere like eBay?
If it's the latter, then it might've been a scam.
To be sure, check the listing and send this to an Apple store.
This damage looks impossible to have happened in shipping.
You need to contact Apple support here - Contact Support
Send it to the Apple Store for repair.
A neat trick to use if you want to pair AirPods with Android phones is to turn on Bluetooth on the phone, then connect to the connection that says "AirPods".
I ordered from official apple website.
I got this into apple's notice by reporting via customer care.
I hope to get a reply (by email or any sort soon )
I know the damage is impossible, even I was shocked!!
