Forgotten Passcode to I Pad 4

I spent two hours with Apple Support last night attempting to restore an Apple I Pad 4. After many failed attempts the tech suggested that I try another computer. Rather than wait until I tunes downloaded on the other computers, a Sony and a Lenovo. I now have I tunes on an HP Probook, A Sony VaioVPCS1, and a Lenovo ThinkPad. I have gone through the steps for restoration on all three with no restore access. I am wondering if the latest Windows ITunes update, 12.10.7 may not allow for this action to be taken. The error screen (there is a problem with the I Pad that requires it to be updated or restored) which appears on the information Apple provided does not appear on any three screens. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

On a whim I tried another cable and it worked. Would have never thought about a bad cable since it appeared to be good Lesson learned

Hey Gdean77,

For the restore process, have you tried putting it in recovery mode?

To put it into recovery mode: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201263

Let me know if the same error comes up when putting it into recovery mode and reattempting your restore.

Are you able to get an Appointment at a store in your area? It may be easier that way as there are many reasons why this error could be occurring.

Start here http://getsupport.apple.com, and when speaking with an agent again, ask to book an appointment at a nearby store.

yes I have many times even with the Apple Technician on the HP Probook and subsequently on the Sony and Lenovo.
