Xr iPhone will not shut down

How can I shut down an iPhone Xr after trying the two volume buttons and side button method. The screen is dark except for the small spinning wheel in the center. The phone is warm.

That iPhone is apparently stuck shutting down. If it’s still stuck by the time you read this, try a restart again, try getting into recovery mode, then use the Contact Support link in the upper right, and have a chat with the folks that work for Apple.
