Folders as iCloud Photos albums

Hi,

I have lots of folders with photos on my computer (mostly old ones made with a photo camera). I want them all in iCloud Photos so that I have a back-up and because I can view them easily on my iPhone/iPad that way. If I just upload them to iCloud, it will just add them to the list with all the other photos. But on my computer I have structured them in folders like "20080712 - Holliday Italy" and so on. I want this on iCloud Photos too in the form of albums, so I can find them easily and know where they are taken (especially with old cameras that didn't have GPS). Is there an easy way to do this? Doing this manually is no option, because it are almost 1000 folders with more than 25.000 pictures in them.

When importing to the Photos app in macOS, choose the top level folder, and be sure to check the box for "keep folder organization"

I am not aware of any other way to do this. Windows does not offer a photo app that does this.
