My iphone 8 will not backup to the cloud

I purchased an iphone 8. It has never updated to the Cloud even though we have an apple ID and plenty of memory. It says it has to be on lock screen and have Wi Fi and have room for backup. I have done all these things and it will not backup for some reason. What do I need to do to get this phone to backup?

Please check that your device is correctly connected to the wifi/internet (Settings âž” Wifi) and is plugged into a power source, also check that you have enough space in iCloud for your backup.

You can check the space available at Settings âž” Apple ID(Top) âž” iCloud âž” Storage âž” iCloud âž” Available and the space needed for the next backup at Settings âž” Apple ID(Top) âž” iCloud âž” Storage âž” iCloud âž” Manage Storage âž” BackUps âž” This Device âž” Next Backup Size (wait for the information to load).

Assuming you meet the requirements for iCloud backup, you should try a forced shutdown, to begin with, hold down the side/top and home buttons together until the device shuts down, then restart it by pressing the side/top button.

Next, try connecting the device at a new location (different WiFi network)

If your backup continues to fail, you might try turning off BackUp on your mobile device (Settings âž” Apple ID(Top) âž” iCloud âž” Apps Using iCloud âž” iCloud BackUp âž” Off), restarting the device and then turning BackUp back on again.

If this doesn’t help turn Backup off again, delete your existing backup from Settings âž” Apple ID(Top) âž” iCloud âž” Storage âž” iCloud âž” Manage Storage âž” BackUps âž” This Device(scroll down to the bottom) âž” Delete BackUp, restart the device and then turn BackUp back on again.

If you are still unable to complete a backup, try signing out of iCloud (Settings âž” Apple ID(Top) (scroll down to the bottom) âž” Sign Out) (you will need to enter your password at this stage), restart the device and sign back into iCloud at Settings âž” Apple ID(Top) âž” Sign In.

The next thing to try would be to reset your network settings. (Settings âž” General âž” Reset âž” Reset Network Settings)

Resetting your network settings will clear your current cellular and wifi network settings, including saved networks, wifi passwords and any VPN settings you might use. It will affect internet connectivity but won’t impact on telephone services since these settings are auto configured by your carrier. It may take a few moments to re-enter all your network settings but it shouldn’t cause you any major problems. If you are comfortable re-entering your network settings, you may wish to try this step a little earlier in the troubleshooting procedure, say after the forced shutdown suggested above.

If this doesn't help, try turning off some items for backup in a pattern to try to establish if your problem is being caused by specific data on your device. You can do this at Settings âž” Apple ID(Top) âž” iCloud âž” Storage âž” iCloud âž” Manage Storage âž” BackUps âž” This Device âž” Choose Data To Backup.

If you still aren’t able to complete a backup to iCloud, you may wish to try restoring your phone which you should do by making a backup to iTunes via your computer and restoring from that.

Being able to backup to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however, unless you specifically need to use iCloud for backup, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable. However, if you backup to iTunes be sure to encrypt the backup if you want to keep your health data and passwords etc.

I tried many of these things to resolve my problem and nothing seemed to work. I have even went to Verizon and asked for help but it is very difficult at this time to deal with Verizon. I want to share what I finally found out that resolved the issue. I found out how to find the settings on my icloud account. When it was setup with an apple ID it for some reason it set the language to English(Australia) and the country as Australia. as soon as I found this and changed it, my phone started backing up properly. It is too bad more people don't know how to get to these icloud settings. I thank everyone for your efforts and extended knowledge and help in trying to resolve my issue. It is now working properly and I again thank you all.
