Screentime limits on messages

I set a 1 hour time limit on messages but it never seems to block access to messages after the hour is used. Why is that? And I have communication limits enabled so that only messages that can be sent after downtime are to parents and grandparents.

I've done these steps and it still doesn't block messages after the time limit has been met.

Hello tammykct,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like the Screen Time limit is not working as expected. We'll do what we can to help.

Verify that Messages is the app that is blocked and that the device with Screen Time limits is what you're under when setting those limits: Use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If this is not the case (or your setting the limit on the device itself), try removing Screen Time limits then turning them on and setting up them up again.

Take care.
