TrueTone causing screen to look white washed

Sometimes when I wake up my Macbook Pro 2019 the whole screen will look white washed as if there's a white overlay over everything. If I turn off TrueTone in the Displays preferences, it fixes the problem. But I would like to use TrueTone! Anyone know a fix or is it an issue with my machine? It was purchased as open box from Best Buy.
