I purchased my usb-c to usb-a cable from Best Buy and had no problem with it working on my desktop computer with Windows 10 to my IPad pro 11. It was their brand "Insignia". I would think that cables from Amazon would work.
I've tried different non-Apple brands and nothing has worked yet. I have 2 USB 3.0 ports but nothing seems to work. Neither iTunes nor the laptop recognizes the iPad and it does not start charging when plugged in. I have a work laptop that does start charging the iPad with the same cable so I know the cable is working for charging. But it is my work laptop so I can't install iTunes. Both are Windows laptops.
More information. The laptop (work laptop) that seems to recognize the IPad has USB 3.1 where my personal laptop has USB 3.0. Does this mean I have to have USB-C or USB-A 3.1 in order for Windows or ITunes to recognize the device? Seems that way but wanted to know if there was some other option.
If you use a genuine Apple USB data cable, with your iPad, you’ll not have any cable-related issues.
USB 3 Cables are recommended over standard USB2 cables - as USB3 cables, with an additional set of data connections, can transfer data faster when connected to USB3-capable devices.
Always beware of third-party cables that are described as “charging cables” - as these may lack data connections.
