Lost and found ipad

my Work recently cleaned out the unclaimed lost and found items. we had an iPad that had been there for 2 YEARS. We don’t know how to contact the owner since the lock screen just gives us ****@gmail.com. I was offered to take it home. Is there anything I can do to make it usable again? Or do I just have an expensive paper weight

You have an expensive paperweight and the only thing to do with it is to responsibly recycle it. You can drop it off at an apple store if any are open, or I think Best Buy or other stores will recycle them, of I believe you can request a mailer from Apple to send it into them postage free to recycle it
