WhatsApp icon has disappeared

I had to restart my phone this morning - the WhatsApp icon was half downloaded all morning so I selected ‘cancel download’ and now can’t find the icon.

How can I find it again with the hope of salvaging the conversations I had ongoing and not needing to download a new version?
