I have a 2014 MacBook Air running Mojave, and have no screen glare issues. I avoid overly bright light sources whether overhead, behind, or indirect in nature. I can change those issues by either changing the tilt of the screen, repositioning away from the light source, or even turning off bright overhead lights. Even changing the Display color profile may reduce some glare effects.
