I have an old iMac from 2011 with the old Magic Mouse 1.
I'm trying to use that mouse on my new MacBook Pro.
In the Mouse section of System Preferences, the Magic Mouse shows as "Connected", but the mouse doesn't actually control the pointer and clicking the mouse does nothing?
So I'm beginning to wonder if only a Magic Mouse 2 will work with the new MBP???
MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15
I disconnected the mouse, reconnected it to my iMac again, disconnected it and reconnected it to the MBP and now it works fine!

Tried that mouse on a different Mac? This on the off chance that the old mouse is kaput.
hey, does the magic mouse 1 work as expected on the new MBP? i found my old mouse and ipad pro, 2 problems: the screolling did not work and it messed up wifi connections big time. i thought i was going crazy, stuff was loading so slowly, but when the mouse was disconncted, all was well.
i ordered a 16" yesterday, and am eagerly awaiting.

awesome! now i’m reading about the fan speed noise on the 16s. i’m hoping to connect an old 23 cinema display to it without problems.
