I was wondering if a user may pay for an album, song, app, or other item on itunes with apple gift card credit. The platform asks me for billing information in connection with a credit card or something. Please advise. Thanks in advance.

That is two different questions.
Can you use an Apple gift card in the iTunes Store? No, it has to be an iTunes gift card.
Can you buy a gift using a credit balance from a gift card? No.
