Auto Connecting AirPods with Apple TV

I have AirPods (2nd gen) and an old-ish Apple TV (not sure on generation, I think 2yrs old). I'll be using my AirPods with my iPhone then want to switch to my TV. Is there any way to seamlessly do this without having to go into the Apple TV settings to connect via bluetooth? I'm thinking shortcuts, something like that?

Hello,

You can access the AirPlay menu from Apple TV’s Control Center. Press and hold the TV button on the Apple TV’s remote.

A software update was announced in WWDC 2020 for second-generation AirPods and AirPods Pro, that should aid in further/enhanced automatic switching between Apple devices. 00:42:27–00:45:16 in the video for the segment on AirPods.
