I am saving photos to my Mac to maximize storage and the full resolution original is stored in the cloud. When I edit the photos in photos, are those edits apply to the full resolution photo in the cloud or only to the compressed version?

How do I apply edits to the full resolution photos if I am maximizing storage on my Mac and storing the originals In the cloud. I am using the Photos app to edit and it works well for my needs, but if I want to enlarge the photos for printing, the file is compressed on my computer. Are the edits being applied to the full resolution photos in iCloud?

When you edit an Optimized image on your Mac it must download the full sized original first and then apply the edit to that. The edits are applied to the preview version and is uploaded to the iCloud Library so they two libraries are identical.

The original file is never touched so one can always "Revert to Original".
