How do I schedule an OS update?

My macbook is set to automatically download and install updates. However, it always has a pop-up asking me to update my OS. I am not going to update my macbook in the middle of using it. My mac is on mostly 24/7. I want it to update when I'm not using it. Is there a way to schedule the update for let's say 6:30am. Even if I can't schedule the update for a specific time, is there a way for me to force it to update when I either reboot or shut down the mac? I am on my mac for most of the day. I use my Mac for work (4-15 hours a day) and streaming video, so having pop-ups interrupting me that don't go away on their own really ticks me off. Is there a way to make notifications go away after a few seconds? If I have both the automatic download and automatic install boxes checked, then why do I have to manually update the mac anyway? Please help. I like my macbook so much, but the constant notifications are completely ruining my experience (I have other notifications for programs, but figured I'd try to resolve the MacOS update notifications first).

Is it wanting you to upgrade to another OS? If that's the case, that has nothing to do with an update - it's considered an upgrade.

Unfortunately, you cannot schedule updates - the only way would be to manually do them (turn off the automatic updates first). I have everything off except the last item and manually check once a week or so.

So what you're telling me is that none of those boxes matter because there is no such thing as automatic updates?

I did not say that. The only way to "schedule" an update is to do it manually.

I said update, I mean update. I'm not an idiot.

I did not say that either; there are many who are not aware of the difference between the two.

Good luck.
