I am having problems with my contacts taking an age to load when searching for a contact within my phone. The search seems to be lagging by up to 10 seconds is this common or is there something wrong?

I went through an online chat and thought it was sorted turned off background app refresh and did a soft reset.
restarted ok but goes straight into lagging when accessing contacts.
going to take the phone into an apple store if I can’t sort this!!
