Does the new iPad Pro overheat? How does it stay cool? Will a strong, thick case prevent it from cooling down?

No. Internal thermal management will prevent the iPad from overheating. If the iPad detects an overheat condition, it will effectively shut-down until it cools. CPU intensive processes, high screen brightness, device charging and high ambient temperatures will all cause the iPad to warm at a greater rate.

The iPad is cooled by conduction of heat through the chassis - and passive convective cooling of the external chassis to the surrounding environment.

A fitted case can, in extreme conditions, affect the natural cooling of the iPad. Apple recommends that the iPad is removed from a case if it overheats - or when charging.
