Question

iCloud Drive security

Hi,

I am having trouble understanding the difference between iCloud, and iCloud Drive. A comment on Apple website has me confused/concerned: 'you can...Share files with anyone you like.'

So my question is; can other people access my files etc. that are on my iCloud and or iCloud Drive?

And if you can please explain (in basic - I mean, really basic - language the difference between iCloud and iCloud Drive is, I would appreciate it!

iCloud has a variety of services. You can use one or all of those. iCloud Drive is the service designed for syncing files. Other iCloud services include iCloud Photos, iCloud Backup, and others.

Another way to visualize it would be iCloud as being the overall service and iCloud Drive, iCloud Photos, iCloud Backup, etc as being under that overall service.

Other people cannot access your iCloud data unless they have your Apple ID password (not recommended that you give that to anyone) or unless you specifically authorize them to share specific data. See: Share folders with iCloud Drive - Apple Support
