ipod touch is locked with old apple id and no way to recover old id

ipod touch is locked with old apple id and no way to recover the old id and retrieve/ make a new password. How else can i unlock ipod ?

You can't. Activation lock is an anti-theft feature that cannot be overridden. See: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201365
