Sound issues, volume low, no bass, sound is not full

When playing music by Bluetooth, iPhone speakers, or any device, the sound is low, bass is not there, no full sound. It sounds like an old transistor radio. I have done total resets, erased all data and started over, and checked every setting in the music app. Also Bluetooth will get scratching and choppy, while using it. Like it is going out of range, but can be sitting 1 foot away from recurved, or even be in my car. Phone worked fine when I first got it, just recently had an issue. Volume level will also have a mind of its own. It goes up and down as it pleases. Almost like someone else has control of it??

Hey there DCDeam,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand you’re having some issues with the audio of your iPhone. This seems to happen on the built-in speakers as well as over Bluetooth. We’ll be happy to help with this.

To verify, does this issue only occur when playing music? If so, are you using the Music app or a different app? Test different audio and apps on your iPhone and see if this makes any difference.

You mentioned restoring your iPhone. When you did this, did you restore from a backup or did you test the audio first? If you restored from a backup first, restore to factory settings once more and test again before restoring your backup. This link can help:

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

If you kept it in factory settings and the issue continued, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn this off. See if these issues return. This can isolate the cause of this issue and see if it’s related to any devices paired with your iPhone.

Also, make sure you’ve gone through the steps in this link for the issue with audio coming directly from your iPhone:

If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker

We hope this helps.

Take care.
