Bluetooth not pairing

Any ideas why I get “iPad is not supported” message when trying to Bluetooth pair my iPhoneSE with my iPad mini both on latest ios13.5.1?

iPhone SE, iOS 13

iPhone and iPad do not connect to each other via Bluetooth. What are you hoping to accomplish by establishing a Bluetooth connection between your iPad and iPhone?

Good question as I was wondering last night whether simply backing up regularly through iCloud would achieve the same. Your reply confirmed that thought. Cheers.
