ipad pro magic keyboard

Sometimes when I close the Magic Keyboard the backlighting on the keys do not go out and it drains the battery. Got brand new iPad Pro, 11”, 2020 and Magic Keyboard on June 12. Other times the keyboard will not light up in a dark room and the settings are correct. Anyone else having the same problem? Since I got both at the same time, not sure if this is a hardware or software issue. The only way to rectify both situations is to unmount iPad Pro from the Magic Keyboard, remount it and then reboot the iPad. Not a great solution.

Have you tried manually adjusting the keyboard brightness?
