2nd Gen Pencil not connecting to latest generation Ipad.

Hi,

I have latest generation (7th) iPad, and recently bought a 2nd generation Pencil. But I am not able to connect the pencil to my Ipad.

Is that a flaw and will be corrected with upcoming releases or is there something that I am missing ?
