Sonos and Catalina

I have Sonos speakers dotted around my house and am very happy with them.

The Sonos app, on my iMac, and on my iPhone and on my iPad, plays music from the radio, Spotify, YouTube and others, and, most importantly to me, from iTunes Music. (Why don’t they just go back to calling it iTunes?!?!)

Sonos would look at my iTunes app, and apparently, make an iTunes library.xml file in the  Music > iTunes folder. That file would then import the playlists into the Sonos app and I could play my iTunes music around the house, through Sonos speakers.

Catalina doesn’t have a Music > iTunes folder.

So Sonos recommend, that I create a folder called iTunes in the Music folder, and that will fool the Sonos app.

Unfortunately, my  iTunes Music library takes up nearly 70GB of space, so I keep it on an external drive (which for reasons that I won’t go into, is called “Ferdinand”).

and I'm running OS 10.15.5 and iTunes Music 1.0.5.14

Sonos version 1 wasn't working yesterday so I'm upgrading to S2 today.

The path to the music on my external drive is currently

Paul’s iMac / Ferdinand / iTunes Music / Music /

I tried adding a folder, so it’s path was

Paul’s iMac / Ferdinand / iTunes Music / Music / iTunes

But that didn’t work.

Sonos tech help have no idea what to do.

Does anyone else?

Thanks in advance

Paul
