I have a 2009 MAC Pro should I just get a new computer?

I am trying to update my operating system is that even possible with this computer.

The latest version a 2009 Mac Pro can run is OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan.

Are you asking about a Mac Pro, a very expensive professional desktop workstation, or a MacBook PRo, a popular notebook computer and the subject of this forum section? They are very different.
