Quicktime "The operation could not be completed" Message (Iphone screen mirroring)

Hey!

I'm trynna mirror my my Iphone 8 Plus screen to my 2019 Macbook Pro 16inch using Quicktime, but I keep getting a "The operation could not be completed" message.

I open Quicktime Player>File>New Movie Recording >Select my Iphone and then get the message.

It used to work all of the time on both of these devices. What changed all of a sudden?

Someone please help, this is the only free way I know how to mirror my iphone screen to my mac.

Specifically, take a look at the section labeled "Record"

If you're following these steps and still can't record the display, see if this continues to be an issue when you restart your Mac in safe mode:

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

If you're able to record the display without issue, the next step would be to rule out incompatible login items:

If your Mac has a blue screen or other startup problems

Specifically, check out the section labeled “Test your login items”
