cant log into my apple ID on mac book pro even in safe mode, no issues on my i phone nor accessing iCloud on line using the same mac book since updating to catalina

Others have been posting the same problem. Are you running any anti - virus programs? Using a VPN?
Try setting up another admin user account in System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if the same problem continues
