We don't have a store near us so how can I get the firmware password removed

I dont have a store and my son had a password on his Mac. He passed away last year and I found the Mac cleaning out his old room. He used a firmware password and user password and Im trying to get into it so I can clear the files off of it before his older brother can have it. How can I do this?

My firmware password is locked my MacBook was purchased in 2011 I have proof of purchase and haven’t been able to use it since 2016, my children’s photos are on it and I would love to be able to recover them.
