iPhone speaker button now leads to choices with 13.5.1

My normal routine is that if I need to make a call on my iPhone to say I'll be late, but want to be as hands free as possible, I choose the name from my favorites to call (at a red light), then hit the speaker button. Now the speaker button, leads to a popup menu, one of the choices is "iPhone". If I wanted to just make a regular call, I wouldn't have hit the Speaker button in the first place.

I hate this "feature". I don't want to be reading menus in the car, which is the primary time I use the Speaker phone. I can't be reading popup menus.

I tried tuning off handoff to Apple TV, and then handoff altogether, then rebooting the phone. Nothing seems to help.

How can I disable this?

I want the speaker button to go back to being a button, not behave like something in settings.

Thanks.

CindyLV,

Does your iPhone connect to any other Bluetooth devices, like your vehicle, maybe? If so, that could be why you are given options when tapping the Audio button while on a call. If the iPhone is detecting another device has audio capabilities it will provide you with audio options to choose from. You would either need to temporarily turn off Bluetooth to prevent the iPhone from detecting the Bluetooth device or remove that device from your iPhone Bluetooth settings.

Hello CindyLV,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

We understand from your post that you would like to make a call while in the car without having to choose which audio device to use. The reason you are seeing these options is because you have a Bluetooth device connected to your iPhone. To only have the speaker option available, you may need to disable Bluetooth.
