Terrible cell signal, wife’s 6s gets 2-3 bars in our house and my 8+ nothing? Sometime if I reboot the phone I’ll get a glimmer of a bar. Is this an inherent problem with the 8’s?

No it is not, but you may have a damaged antenna. Click on the Contact Support link in the top right of this page to start the service process.
