These folks aren’t dialing you.

Not unless you gave some indication you were willing to be scammed.

These folks are calling the continent.

This and other scams are businesses.

They are heavily automated.

They call approximately everybody.

They lie, spoof, cheat.

They test and change their calls and their messages continuously to increase the profits.

If you have indicated higher value, they will re-sell your number, and they will call relentlessly.

Calling is approximately free, for these folks. They’re not paying US consumer cellphone rates.

Until the economics and the (lack of) consequences change, this barrage will persist.

Calls like that are unfortunately common and they use all kinds of area codes and numbers.

Apple doesn't make unsolicited phone calls. If there was a problem you would be notified when attempting to log in, including when logging into this forum. Also see: Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support

Also, the caller id number shown on scam and marketing calls is rarely the number actually originating the call. The number is usually spoofed.

In addition to the above, calling telephone numbers can be spoofed. Which means those calls may not be or are not originating from area code 585. There are a few causes where area codes are deliberately used, in an effort to get you to call back into a “premium” telephone number that’ll get you billed for the call; an equivalent of the US 900 area code. Some are seeking to harass the actual user of that telephone number. The rest are just randomly generated number to bypass spam-blocking efforts.
