Ipad Mini

Hello- I am trying to download an app that requires iOS 13 software but my iPad Mini software is 12.4.7 and it says its up to date. Is the iPad Mini not compatible with iOS 13? Thank you in advance.

Sorry no, if it says it's up to date, it can't support iPadOS 13 or later, because of hardware incompatibility.

Only iPads Mini 4th or 5th generation can support the current operating system.

iPad mini2 and mini3 cannot be updated beyond iOS 12.4.7 - this being the current final supported version of iOS for these models of iPad

Major update support for iPad Air1, mini2 and mini3 ended in September 2019. Whilst there have since been several “point” updates to address specific security matters, the final supported release for these models is iOS 12.4.7. As such, your description implies that you have already updated to the most recent version of iOS supported by your iPad.

Third-party App developers are increasingly dropping support for older versions of iOS preceding iOS11/12 - and some, for technical reasons, have also culled versions preceding iOS/iPadOS 13.x. As such, if you need to access most current Apps that mandate more recent versions of iOS than your iPad is capable of supporting, you’ll need to consider replacement of your iPad with a newer or current model.
