Iphone Xr overheating after update

If you are not getting temperature warnings, then the device is not overheating. Keep in mind that it can take up to about 48 hours after an update for background housekeeping tasks such as indexing to complete and some additional heat is expected during this time as the device is working constantly no matter how you are using it. After that period, what is a "normal" amount of heat is unique to every user. Processor-intensive apps such as games can contribute to this. Also, a weak or congested network can make an iPhone have to work harder all the time in order to maintain a connection to data.
