Apple Watch 5 charging issue

My series 5 watch illuminates on and off while charging (Nightstand mode on). I'm using original charging puck and apple charger that came with watch. (plugged into a power strip). Normal?

The watch is very sensitive to movement when in nightstand mode and the slightest sound or movement makes it light up.
