Option Key No Longer Works
Hi,
My option key no longer works in any application, e.g., holding down option key no longer changes Get Info to Show Inspector. All option + keys in FCPx are likewise disabled.

If you haven't yet, restart your mac. Odds are it was a one-off glitch.
Does the problem persist?
Can you try with a different keyboard?
Other things you may try: restart in Safe Mode - does the option key work? Restart normally again. Fixed?
Does the option key work correctly in a new user account?
