LinkedIn uses +90% of the CPU in my brand new MacBook Pro.

MacBook Pro 16. Latest OS, no funny apps. Upon entering LinkedIn in Safari it takes no more than 3 to 5 minutes for the fans to fire up, upper keyboard to overheat and upon inspecting it with Monitor, discovering it's using anything from 80 to 120% of the CPU.

Are you running any anti - virus programs? Using a VPN?


Try setting up another admin user account in System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

Safe Mode - About.       


If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar. Paste that in a new reply.        Pastebin.

Strange. I just loaded LinkedIn (it's still open in the background, signed in and on my main feed). You're right. Activity Monitor shows the LinkedIn.com tab process using about 40-50% CPU on my system, but only when it is onscreen (around 1% when offscreen). The messages that continue to appear in the Web Inspector are connected to the content blocking:

Edit: To be fair, I tested LinkedIn.com without any Content Blocking. The CPU usage was the same. So it's not Adguard causing this latest CPU usage. It's their poorly-coded site compatibility with Safari. Does anyone have Safari 14 to test if it's any better?
